Update (Oct 17, 2026): the TSE confirmed the runoff on October 25, 2026 for president and for governor in Acre, Amazonas, the Federal District, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte and Tocantins. Hours are the same as in the first round: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Brasília time.

Across Brazil, voting in the 2026 elections runs from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Brasília time. What changes by region is the local clock: in Acre polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m.; on Fernando de Noronha they open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. The first round took place on October 4, 2026, and the runoff (for president and, in six states and the Federal District, for governor) is set for October 25, 2026, with the same hours.

Why do local hours vary if voting is unified?

Brazil has four official time zones (UTC−2 to UTC−5), and Brasília stays at UTC−3 all year, with no daylight saving time since 2019. According to the electoral court (TSE), Resolution 23.751/2026 sets Brasília time as the reference for opening, closing and publishing results. The rule is single, but the time on a voter’s watch depends on the zone.

Acre and southwest Amazonas: 6 a.m. opening

It is the earliest opening in the country, but not in the dark: according to the site’s sunrise and sunset calculator, on October 25, 2026 the sun rises around 5:03 a.m. in Rio Branco (and about 5:24 a.m. in Cruzeiro do Sul), shortly before polls open. Closing at 3:00 p.m. comes well before sunset, around 5:30 p.m. local. See the current time in Acre.

Amazonas has two time zones

Most of the state, including Manaus, is on UTC−4 and votes from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eleven municipalities follow Acre time (UTC−5) and vote from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the TSE. If you live in one of them, confirm your polling place with the state electoral court. See also the time in Amazonas.

Mato Grosso, MS, Rondônia, Roraima and Noronha

Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Roraima

All four are on UTC−4: polls are open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. local time. Travelers should adjust their watches: 7 a.m. here equals 8 a.m. in Brasília.

Fernando de Noronha: the only later schedule

At UTC−2, the archipelago votes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time, the only place where closing falls after 5 p.m. on the local clock.

When do results come out in each zone?

The TSE starts releasing results from 5:00 p.m. Brasília time, simultaneously nationwide, without waiting for Acre. On local clocks that means:

Place5 p.m. Brasília equals
Rio Branco (Acre)3 p.m.
Manaus, Cuiabá, Porto Velho, Boa Vista, Campo Grande4 p.m.
Capitals on UTC−35 p.m.
Fernando de Noronha6 p.m.

In practice, voters in Acre finished two hours earlier by the time the first official figures appear. To compare times, use the time zone converter or the page on places with a time different from Brasília.

Practical tips by time zone

  • The 5 p.m. (Brasília) cutoff is firm: anyone already in line at closing receives a numbered slip, starting with the last person in line. Those arriving later cannot vote.
  • Acre: the cutoff is 3 p.m. local; arrive early.
  • Noronha: the cutoff is 6 p.m. local, not 5 p.m.
  • Documents: bring an official photo ID; the voter registration card is not mandatory. The e-Título app works if it displays your photo.
  • When traveling: check whether your phone clock switched zones when crossing state lines.
