In Brasília time, the regular NYSE and Nasdaq session runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. while the US is on daylight saving time, and from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. after November 1, 2026. European exchanges open in the early morning, and Tokyo trades in the evening and overnight. The shifts come from daylight saving time elsewhere: Brasília has not changed its clocks since 2019.

Opening hours of each exchange (local time)

These are regular session hours, Monday to Friday, in each exchange's local time:

  • NYSE and Nasdaq (New York): 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • London Stock Exchange: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., no lunch break.
  • Xetra (Frankfurt): 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Euronext Paris: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Tokyo Stock Exchange: 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. (the afternoon close moved to 3:30 p.m. on November 5, 2024).

Pre-market, after-hours and opening or closing auctions exist but vary by exchange and broker, and they are not in the tables below.

Brasília time: three scenarios in 2026

Because the US and Europe change clocks on different dates, the table has three stages:

ExchangeUntil Oct 24 (US and Europe on summer time)Oct 26-30 (only the US on summer time)From Nov 2 (both on standard time)
NYSE and Nasdaq10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Frankfurt (Xetra)4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Paris (Euronext)4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tokyo9:00 to 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 to 3:30 a.m. (a session starts the evening before)

Tokyo has no daylight saving time and is always 12 hours ahead of Brasília, so Tuesday's Japanese session starts at 9 p.m. Monday in Brazil. See the time difference between Brazil and Japan.

Why the hours change: the 2026 dates

In spring 2027 the pattern repeats in reverse: the US moves clocks forward on March 14 and Europe on March 28. Between those dates, New York opens at 10:30 a.m. Brasília time while European exchanges run from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

New York and London overlap

The window when both trade at once, in Brasília time, is:

  • until Oct 24: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (2 hours);
  • Oct 26-30: 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (3 hours);
  • from Nov 2: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (2 hours).

Frankfurt and Paris have the same window with New York as London. Tokyo overlaps with none of them: it closes at 3:30 a.m. Brasília time, before Europe opens.

What about B3?

This guide does not give B3 hours. For the current schedule, check the exchange's website. To compare B3 with other exchanges, use the market hours page, which shows the current day and the overlap with each market.

Why does the gap change if Brasília does not change its clocks?

Summary

To follow markets abroad, always convert from the exchange's local time and the change dates: Europe on October 25, 2026 and the US on November 1, 2026. For other times, use the time zone converter. Holidays and half-day sessions for B3, NYSE, Nasdaq, London, Frankfurt and Tokyo are now shown on the market hours page; for special cases, also check each exchange's calendar. Brasília itself never moves, so the table only changes when New York, London or Frankfurt change their clocks.
